Escrito por
Alicia Ball

Hey Bailey, why did you come to Madrid and where about did you come from?

I came from Toronto, Canada to teach English.

How does Madrid compare with Toronto?

It’s a similar size but the culture, food, and language barrier are big adjustments.

What do you do with your spare time Bailey?

I like to run, read and try new restaurants and bars with friends

What are the top 3 spots that come to your head when you think about Madrid?

Puerta del Sol, Gran Vía, Calle de las Huertas.

What do you want to do most beforeyou leave?

Improve my Spanish. I can already speak the language, but would love to imrpove my fluency!

Do you have any tricks or advice for people that are going to move here?

Step out of your comfort zone, take advantage of agencies that are here to help newcomers eg:CityLife Madrid.

What's been the most difficult thing about moving to Madrid?

I definitely have a slight problem with the slow walkers on the street - especially when i'm running!

Whilst we're speaking about difficulties, how have you managed with Spanish banking? Which bank do you use and why?

I use Sabadell because my employer encouraged me to set up an account with them.

What's a typical day like for you here in Madrid?

I wake up, go to work, have a 3 hour lunch break -the best- I then sometimes go back to work in the afternoon depending on the day, and then normally I go for a run or wander around Madrid and meet up with friends.
